Underground tunnels targeted by Israeli forces
Buenos Aires News.Net Thursday 19th November, 2009
The Israel Air Force has attacked two smuggling tunnels in the southern Gaza Strip.
The airstrikes were near the border town of Rafah.
Israeli military officials also claimed its forces destroyed a weapons factory in Khan Younis, in response to recent rocket fire into Israel from Gaza.
It is believed some civilians were injured in the bombings.
Israel has accused Gaza militants of firing some 15 rockets and mortar shells at Israel over the past month, with nearly 300 having been fired at Israel since last January’s Gaza war.
Even though the radical Islamist Hamas movement ruling Gaza has largely observed a truce, Israel has still had to respond to ongoing, sporadic fire.
A report commissioned by the UN Human Rights Council has accused both Israel and Hamas of having committed war crimes during the war.
