Airlines invite business travellers back with perks
Buenos Aires News.Net Wednesday 17th March, 2010
Elite travellers are expected to start flying again soon, with airlines now gearing up for business travellers.
While business and first class travellers last year consigned themselves to lower class travel, corporate bottom lines have improved, meaning the battle for premium-paying passengers is about to heat up.
Business travel is the most profitable for any airline, with economy class passengers paying five times less than the cost of a business class seat.
Analysts are predicting a reversal of the travel downturn that led the airline industry to lose an estimated $9.4 billion globally last year.
Airlines are now investing in enhanced services and amenities, particularly for premium-paying and frequently flying passengers, which include sleeper seats and other perks, from luxury airport lounges to in-flight gourmet meals.
