BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

PARIS -- France registered 19,952 new coronavirus infection cases and 122 related deaths in the past 24 hours, according to figures released by the Public Health Agency on Sunday.

The cumulative number of coronavirus cases in France now stands at 3,755,968, and the total number of fatalities at 86,454 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.

LONDON -- Another 6,035 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,176,554, according to official figures released Sunday.

The country also reported another 144 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 122,849. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.

WASHINGTON -- Vaccine advisers of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) voted on Sunday to recommend the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine for Americans 18 years of age and older.

The CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices is a group of vaccine and public health experts that help set CDC guidelines on vaccination practices.

BUENOS AIRES -- The Argentine government on Sunday ordered that the Social, Preventive and Mandatory Distancing measures, in place to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, will be extended until March 12.

The measures were adopted through a government decree signed by the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, and the cabinet of ministers.

SANTIAGO -- The Chilean Ministry of Health reported 4,208 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease on Sunday, with the country closing the week with a trend of more than 4,000 daily cases.

This is the fourth consecutive day that Chile has reported at least 4,000 daily cases of COVID-19 as the country has seen a large amount of internal mobility due to the holidays.

BUCHAREST -- Romania reported 2,830 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total to 801,994, the official data showed on Sunday.

The death toll rose by 63 in the 24-hour span to 20,350 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Strategic Communication Group, Romania's official COVID-19 communication task force.

BEIJING -- The Chinese mainland reported no new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the National Health Commission said Monday.

The commission received reports of 19 new imported COVID-19 cases on Sunday.
