MEXICO CITY, April 17 (Xinhua) -- Cruz Azul's record 12-game Liga MX winning streak ended on Saturday when they were held to a 1-1 away draw by fellow title challengers America.
Argentine defender Emanuel Aguilera gave the hosts a 36th-minute lead by converting from the penalty spot after Roberto Alvarado brought down Alvaro Fidalgo.
The visitors equalized when Uruguayan forward Jonathan Rodriguez also struck from the spot following a Mauro Lainez hand ball.
It was the first time that Cruz Azul failed to win in Mexico's top-flight since January 16. They remain top of the 18-team standings with 12 wins, one draw, and two losses, two points ahead of America.
In other fixtures on Saturday, Puebla won 4-1 at Atletico San Luis and Chivas secured a 2-0 home win over Tijuana.
