RIO DE JANEIRO, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors are interested in signing Bolivia international striker Marcelo Moreno from Brazil's Cruzeiro, according to media reports.
The Buenos Aires giants have identified the 33-year-old as a possible replacement for Carlos Tevez, who quit the club last week to spend time with his family, Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported on Wednesday.
Moreno has scored just four goals in 32 appearances for Cruzeiro since rejoining his former club in January 2020 from China's Cangzhou Mighty Lions.
But he has been in prolific form at international level and is the top scorer in South America's 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament with six goals in five matches so far.
Argentina's new domestic football season will begin on July 18 following a six-week break.
