BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.1 percent, at 3,558.28 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.08 percent lower at 14,341.38 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 860.8 billion yuan (about 133.64 billion U.S. dollars), down from 889.7 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to airports and shipping posted strong performance, while those associated with healthcare and aesthetic medicine were weak.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.17 percent to close at 3,215.74 points.
