LOS ANGELES, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Napoli winger Hirving Lozano scored late as Mexico overcame Peru 1-0 in their international soccer friendly here on Saturday.
Lozano latched onto a Cesar Montes headed flick with a left-footed shot in the 85th minute, which beat goalkeeper Pedro Gallese at his near post.
The fixture at the Rose Bowl provided one of the last opportunities for Mexico manager Gerardo Martino to test his squad ahead of the FIFA World Cup, to be played in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
El Tri will meet Colombia at Levi's stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Tuesday. They are also scheduled to play friendlies against Iraq and Sweden on November 9 and 16, respectively.
Mexico have been drawn in the World Cup's Group C alongside Poland, Argentina and Saudi Arabia. Peru failed to qualify for the tournament after losing an intercontinental playoff against Australia in June.
