BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Alexis Canelo was on target as Independiente continued their impressive start to the new season with a 1-0 home victory over Huracan in Argentina's Primera Division on Thursday.
The club from Avellaneda went ahead in the 26th minute after Federico Mancuello's shot was parried clear by Lucas Chaves only for Canelo to fire in the rebound.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Fernando Tobio was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul.
Independiente held on to secure their third win from four games while Huracan dropped to fifth, three points further back.
In Thursday's only other Primera Division fixture, Platense won 2-1 at home to Lanus.
