BUENOS AIRES, June 26 (Xinhua) -- Argentina international midfielder Leandro Paredes is set to leave Roma to rejoin boyhood team Boca Juniors, according to widespread media reports.

Paredes is tied to the Italian club until next June but a clause in his contract allows him to leave for 3.5 million U.S. dollars, reports said, adding that he had an in-principle agreement with Boca.

The 30 year-old is expected to sign a contract that runs until December 2028.

The World Cup winner made 28 appearances for Boca before earning a move to Roma in 2014. His career has also included spells at Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, among other clubs.

Boca, which was eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup on Tuesday, will begin its Argentine Primera Division Clausura campaign with an away clash against Argentinos Juniors on July 13.
